We offer personalized attention during weekly store tours, offer educational classes, and have recipes and handouts for those on the go.

Please support a good cause, and join our walking team.  All our team members will receive a team t-shirt, and treats from our team sponsors: Zico Coconut Water and Zing Protein Bars. We will be gathering at 9am at Raley Field- specific location for our team to be announced.

Addicting Gluten Free Almond Crescent Cookies

Did you know that Elizabeth for Pure Pantry is coming to Sacramento in October?  She's cranking out the recipes and had to share this recipe....

Addicting Almond Crescent Cookies - no one we know can only eat one!

Ingredients
1 package The Pure Pantry Organic Sugar Cookies Mix
1 cup (128 g) organic almond flour
1 cup (226 g) unsalted organic butter (or butter substitute)
1 large organic egg
1 tsp. (5 ml) vanilla
2 tsps. (10 mls.) almond extract
1 pound confectioners’ sugar for dusting cookies

Instructions
Using electric mixer, cream together butter (or butter substitute) and egg (or egg replacer) until well blended. Mix in vanilla and almond extracts. Add contents of package and almond flour. Mix until all ingredients are combined and dough forms into a ball.

Remove dough ball from bowl. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes.

Preheat oven to 350˚F  Grease two cookie sheets or cover with parchment paper.

Remove dough from refrigerator and remove plastic wrap. On work surface covered with gluten free flour (rice flour or cornstarch work well) roll dough into long log. Using a knife, cut log into ½ inch (12 mm) slices (about 1 tablespoon dough each). Using your hands, roll each dough slice into a crescent shape and place on prepared cookie sheet. Bake 15 minutes or until golden brown.

Remove cookies from oven and let cool for 2-3 minutes. Place half the confectioners sugar in a 9 x 12” (23 x 30 cm) baking pan. Place slightly cooled cookies in the pan and pour remaining confectioners sugar over cookies. Roll each cookie around in the sugar to coat. Let cool in sugar for at least 30 minutes. Remove cookies, shake off excess sugar and store in air-tight container.

Food Festival in Fremont Park

SactoMoFo!

Ever wonder why you don't see more food vendors on the corners in downtown Sacramento like you would in a larger city like San Francisco? That's because Sacramento has massive restrictions, and SactoMoFo is hoping to be the kickstarter in getting the laws changed.

On Saturday, April 30 2011 - all afternoon and evening, from Noon to 6 pm is the Sacramento Mobile Food Festival! They'll be two dozen vendors - some carts, some trucks and mobile grills - from the Sacramento region and throughout the Bay Area on hand to serve you, your family and friends a tasty, filling and hopefully mellifluous afternoon of food and music. Ride your bike or take light rail if possible - Fremont Park is just across from the 16th Street station - out of respect for the park's residential and business neighbors. Parking will be available, but it will be very limited.

Bring small bills and a big appetite. We'll see you there!

Gluten Free-go explore and see what kind of gluten free options are available. Make mobile carts aware. Our sources tell us Emma's Tamales will be there and some of her tamales are a tasty gluten free lunch!

For more details and to find out more about the mobile cart movement check out http://www.sactomofo.com/

North Bay Celiacs Race

Join the North Bay Celiacs Team in the Sonoma County Human Race!
Three ways to help: Donate now, join the race, or volunteer on May 7th

We hope you enjoy the community services provided by North Bay Celiacs. This is an opportunity to express your appreciation and join in some fun. North Bay Celiacs will participate in the 2011 Sonoma County Human Race, a nonprofit community fundraiser organized by the Volunteer Center of Sonoma County.
Thanks to generous community donations in last year’s race, we have been able to continue our free community services: support groups in four North Bay counties; physician and dietitian education at local hospitals; gluten-free consultations to food purveyors; and maintaining a website that serves as an information center for the celiac and gluten-intolerance community in the greater Bay Area. We also provide support to Camp Celiac (www.celiaccamp.com).
North Bay Celiacs would love to count on your support in this year’s Human Race! The race, which will take place on May 7th, is our sole fundraiser and source of income. Our goal again this year is $3,000. It’s a modest goal for an organization serving this large geographical area, but North Bay Celiacs is run entirely by volunteers. Here's how to help:

Online:
Please specify "North Bay Celiacs" as the "Benefiting Nonprofit Agency" when you pay online by credit card, or else your donation may go to the general fund of the Volunteer Center instead of North Bay Celiacs. Any amount is welcome and it all helps a great deal!  We are a chapter of the Celiac Disease Foundation, a 501(C)(3) nonprofit organization. All contributions are tax-deductible to the extent allowable by law. CDF's tax ID# is 95-4310830. Feel free to forward the link to family and friends. You can also join as a "Team Member" and do more fundraising with your own web page and link on the Human Race site.
By check:
Or, send a check (payable to "The Human Race") to:
Molly Dillon, 1755 Donner drive, Santa Rosa, CA 95404

WALK OR RUN ON MAY 7th
It's fun! We have a group walking in the Human Race (pretty slowly) behind our beautiful banner on a 3K walk through Howarth Park in eastern Santa Rosa. It's free to walk, and no registration is necessary. However, to run you must register and pay a fee.

You do have to get up early - we meet at our table at 7:15am, the runners start at 8am and the walkers follow the runners. Email me if you plan to join us and I'll make sure you know how to get there and where to meet. There is a great community spirit at the event – you should participate (at least once)! Children, strollers, and wheelchairs are very welcome.

VOLUNTEER
We need a few volunteers to staff our booth at the Human Race Marketplace. Every year our booth is packed with interested people for three hours straight, and it is seriously fun. We give out tons of food samples and educational materials. This is a great chance to meet people and share information about celiac disease.  Email Molly (see below) if you'd like to help staff the table for any amount of time from 7am-11am. We especially need people from 9am-11am. Please specify preferred shift.
We hope you'll join us in our efforts this spring! For your information, here are a couple links to the Human Race and the Volunteer Center: http://www.humanracenow.org/  and http://www.volunteernow.org/.

If you are unable to bring stuffed eggs, please consider a $5 donation to help offset the costs of the additional eggs being provided.

Arrive at 10:30 am and plan to play with your child(ren) in the playground for about 30 minutes. My teenagers and I will hide about 200-300 eggs before 10:30 am, and we will also hide the eggs that guests bring.

Note that many of the items in the eggs will be choking hazards due to size so if you have a younger child be sure to supervise them with these items.
