Gluten Free Rundown for June

Daiya Cheese Recipe Contest hosted by Gluten Free Specialty!:For the entire month of June we encourage everyone to submit their favorite recipes involving Daiya Cheese. At the end of the month we will be randomly selecting multiple people for a coupon for a free 8 oz bag of Daiya Cheese. Recipes can be submitted on our facebook event page, in person, or by email: info@glutenfreespecialty.com subject line: “Daiya Recipe Contest.” Share with your community. I know there are some very creative folks out there, so please share :-)
Cookbook Giveaway at Gluten Free Specialty! For all purchases made between June 5 and June 14 of $50 or more, customers will automatically entered for a chance to receive Elena Amsterdam's NEW cookbook: Gluten Free Cupcakes. Perfect treats for picnics and weekend gatherings. Easy and healthy recipes.
Downtown Sacramento Support Meeting, Wednesday June 8, 7:00 pm - 8:00+ pm Dining out discussion:  How to increase our successful gluten-free experiences.  Join the CSA at SMUD’s Customer Service Center, 6301 S Street, Room 3. Gluten-free snacks always welcomed; please include recipe and/or package for those with additional food sensitivities.       

Gluten Free Bread Class at the Davis Co-Op Thursday, June 9, 6:00 p.m. If you’ve been making your own gluten-free bread, but you’re looking for a few new recipes, come join us. We’ll make breads that rely on a wide range of grains, nuts, and other wholesome foods for their good looks and fantastic texture and flavor. INSTRUCTOR: Amy Radbill $25
Traffic Light Eating Free Learning Experience Saturday June 11, 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM at Gluten Free Specialty: 2612 J Street Sacramento, CA 95816. Learn, listen and ask questions with Amy Carson: a local gluten free mom with some nutritional studies under her belt. Play a game to identify healthy vs. unhealthy foods. For each family that guesses right, you’ll be entered in to a win a $5 gift card to GFS.

Pure Pantry Sampling at Gluten Free Specialty! Saturday June 11, 2:30 PM-5:30 PM- this just might be the mix  you’ve been eyeing on our shelf- well now is your chance to try it. Plus, new reduced pricing.
Restaurant Outing hosted by the Sacramento CSA, Wednesday, June 15, 11:30 am Ginza Sushi Bar and Grill, 2205 Francisco Drive, El Dorado Hills (Cross Green Valley Road in Safeway Center).  RSVP by 6/10 to Diane dcraig101@hotmail.com.  Check out the gluten free menu

Another Cookbook Giveaway at Gluten Free Specialty! For all purchases between June 15 and June 22 of $50 or more customers will automatically be entered for a change to receive Gluten Free Italian by Jacqueline Mallorca. This a great addition to any cookbook collection!!!
Davis Support Meeting, Saturday June 18, 12:30-2:00 pm At Davis Lutheran Church, Fellowship Hall, 317 East 8th Street in Davis.  Contact Susan at sblarock@sbcglobal.net.  Experienced celiacs, please bring a gluten-free snack to share (including recipe and/or package, for those with additional food sensitivities).

Sacramento Gluten Free Summer Potluck, Saturday, June 25, 11:00 am
Potluck is at 4347 Whitney Avenue, Sacramento. RSVP to Joan at 916-487-3459 (RSVP is required so sufficient chairs and tables can be arranged).  Bring a gluten-free salad, swim gear, and parents to supervise swimmers under 18.

Placerville Support Meeting/Brunch, Sunday, June 26, 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm Sequoia Restaurant, 643 B Street, Placerville.  Please RSVP to Kathe at 530-672-1104 by Monday, June 20.   Cost including tax and tip will be $16.  Kathe’s credit card will be charged $25 for each no-show, so please cancel your RSVP if you reserve and later discover you cannot make it.  All the meal options will be gluten-free, and all (yes, all) of the options also can be made dairy-free:  Eggs Benedict, Field Mushrooms & Cheese Omelet, Shrimp Omelet, Asian Skirt Steak, or Chef Bagley’s gluten-free fish special.  Chef Bagley will make gluten-free muffins and cinnamon rolls – as Kathe notes, “Imagine!  A bread basket we can eat!” – and the meal price also includes Juice OR champagne OR coffee.  Juice or Champagne refills are $2.00 each; Coffee refills are free; Extra beverage is $3.00.

Come out and take part in both a second Saturday and our store anniversary celebration. We'll be extending our hours on Saturday July 9 and will be open until 8pm. We’ll be sampling out lots of great treats from 4-8pm! Vendors to include Cultured Kitchen from Sacramento, Pure Pantry Mixes from Encitias, Confluence Kitchen from Auburn, and several more TBA!
